Days 110 and 111 - At sea

Wednesday, April 30

It was nice to sleep as long as I wanted this morning and I had a couple of hours lost sleep to make up.  After watching the morning show I headed for Paul Roberts' lecture on Rome.  I missed the first few minutes but it was very interesting.

Lido for lunch then out by the Lido pool for the tug-of-war.  It was cool (low 70s/about 22) and very windy.  I had to wait about 45 minutes but I had a front row seat so I stayed.  The tug-of-war started at 2:15 and there were teams from various departments.  The overall winners were the "Bad Boys" (entertainers) but there were also winners from the all-female and the mixed teams.

Didn't get to Needlework/Knitting group until 3:00 and there were only about 14 present (some still recuperating from the two hectic days in Israel).

Met with Judy and Mike for trivia (Chrissie and Brian have been sick) and another couple joined us.  Once again we were one off the winners with 16 correct (Who are Drusilla and Anastasia?).

Finished reading my second Alanna Knight book while having my afternoon ice cream which was very soupy today.

Worked on my blog and chose the pictures before getting ready for formal night.  Six for dinner tonight.  The show was a repeat so I decided to finish up my post for the second day in Haifa.  The Cunard internet would not let me log on - it kept telling me to contact the administrator which I could not do at 11 o'clock at night.

Too chilly and windy to sit on the balcony tonight so went to bed about 12:15.

Thursday, May 1

Woke up about 9:30 and tried to get on-line.  No problems this morning and I was able to get two posts (excess pictures again) up while I watched the morning show.

Went to Paul Roberts' lecture on Pompeii and Herculaneum.   He had been in charge of an exhibition in the British Museum last year of artifacts from the two sites.  He showed a number of slides of these artifacts and told about his personal experiences.

Checked out a book by L.C. Tyler on the way to lunch.  Sat in the World Voyage section reading  for awhile before going to Needlework/Knitting group.  Glenda and I arrived at about the same time and we chatted about being on a World Voyage.  We ended up with about 17 total.

Then trivia with the "5 Travellers" and we had 16 correct.  The winners (and there was a tie) had 19.

Another soupy ice cream and then I came back to read on my balcony.  It clouded over and I got chilly so I only stayed out for about 15 minutes.  Came back in and watched Commander Jeff Tall's lecture on "The Story of U-Boats" on the TV.

Early evening trivia had three or four very British questions and I only had 12 out of 21.  The winning team had all 21 correct.

Tonight was an informal night but the theme was "The Roaring Twenties".  There were a number of people dressed in twenties style.  Five of us at dinner tonight.

The show was a singer/comedian Mike Doyle.  He was pretty good.

We gained an hour's sleep but I still have to get up early for our stop in Naples.
